Preschool Snack Guidelines
When you are the snack parent, please bring snack for the children, teacher and other parent-teachers. Snack should include juice, milk or water and a mix of protein, fruits or vegetables and grains. Some examples are listed below. Apple juice is the preferred juice to minimize stains. Remember to bring enough for seconds as preschoolers work up an appetite. You may prepare snack at school or home.
General Guidelines
- Snacks should be nutritious, low in sugar, preservatives, etc.
- Home-prepared snacks are allowed. Use proper food preparation and storage guidelines as outlined in the section “Safe Food Preparation and Storage Guidelines”.
- Hygiene in the classroom is as important as safely prepared food. Wash hands before preparing and before serving snack.
- Be aware of any allergies posted for your class. We are a “nut free” school, so please do not bring any snacks containing any type of nuts.
