Threes Class Parent-Teacher Guidelines

There are three Parent-Teachers every class; Snack Parent, Art Parent and Outside Parent. 
The responsibilities for each are outlined below.

3 year-old Class Snack Parent

8:30 Prepare snack: Prepare snack in kitchen if necessary. Remember to wash your Hands! Fill the 3/4 pitchers with water. Gather together napkins, cups, 3/4 trays, 3/4 little tongs and/or spoons for serving. Please divide and arrange snack on 4 trays in bowls or on plates with serving utensils and set-aside until snack time.

Friday: Please help bring toys and activities needed over to room 12.

 

9:00 Greet Children: Greet children and help them to put away their coats and belongings. Help remind parents to have kids use the potty and wash hands. Help the children find a seat at either “clay or puzzles.”

9:15 Morning Group: “Time to put the puzzles and clay away and come to circle.” Help children put the clay in zip lock bags and put puzzles away. Guide the children over to our “morning gathering”. As children leave for gathering, please set-up the snack tables with whatever activities the Teacher has prepared for the day. Ask the teacher what will need to be done. Come and join us for our morning gathering.

9:40 Choice/Activity Time: Supervise the snack room activities. Please ask the teacher for any special instructions.

10:30 Clean up: Teacher will ring the bell and sing the clean-up song. “It’s time to clean-up.” Help children put away the activities, which were set-up in snack room.

10:40-10:55 Circle Time: (music and movement) Once the children have moved to circle, close the curtains and sanitize all the tables with cleaner. Wash your hands and set out individual settings with nametags, cups and napkins. Join us for circle if you’re done. Help wash hands at sink.

10:55 Snack Time: Please keep all snack items on trays aside until AFTER we have sung our snack song. You may then put a set-up tray with snacks, and serving utensils in the middle of each table, along with a pitcher of water on each table. The children will be having snack “family style”. Please help them with language like, “please pass the crackers…” as well as names of foods etc. There will be an adult sitting at each table in order to eat with the children. Please make sure they’re using the tongs and spoons for serving. Help if needed and enjoy conversation! When each child is done they may throw away their trash, put away their nametag and go and read books until it’s time to go outside.

11:15 Outside Time: When kids are outside, you stay inside and begin your clean up. Resanitize tables, vacuum snack room, and take dishes/trays/pitchers/utensils to kitchen to wash. After dishes are done please help supervise outside.

11:50 Story Time: Children come in for a story; we discuss our day at school and to sing our good-bye song. Please help put dry completed art away in “art-files”. Come join us for good-byes.

12:00 Children Dismissed: Parents arrive and children leave. Help watch and keep children inside until the right person has arrived to pick them up.

Final Clean Up: Vacuum by main door and path by coat rack and cubbies. Vacuum circle room, and help others finish up their duties if needed.

Friday: Please help return any items borrowed back to rooms 13/14. Vacuum room 12.

12:30 Thanks for your help! Please know we’re all in this together of all of our children. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask the teacher!


3 year-old Class Art Parent

 

8:30 Set up art room: Set up art room with guidance from the teacher. You may need to prepare paint/glue/cutting etc. Please set up the art activity for about 6 children with extra supplies waiting on the counter.

Friday: Help take supplies from art room, to room 12. Set up on trays.

9:00 Greet Children: Greet children and help them to put away their coats and belongings. Help remind parents to have kids use the potty and wash hands. Help the children find a seat at either “clay or puzzles.”

9:15 Morning Group: “Time to put the puzzles and clay away and come to circle.” Help children put the clay in zip lock bags and put puzzles away. Guide the children over to our “morning gathering”. As children leave for group, please join us and help supervise. After the teacher has read a story and showed the children the activities for the day, the children will make a “choice” to begin their day. Please be ready to go into the art room with the first child.

Friday: During Morning Gathering please set up art onto one of the tables in room 12.

9:40 Choice/Activity Time: Supervise the art room and help guide the children doing art. First write names on all projects. Ask open-ended questions about their artwork and help give them the materials needed in which to create the way they so desire. Please ask teacher for help if needed.

10:30 Clean up: Teacher will ring the bell and sing the clean-up song. Say, “It’s time to clean-up.” Have the children who are in the art room help you to clean up. Put any paintbrushes used, etc to soak in the sink; save the rest of clean up for after preschool. Help children to clean up snack and circle rooms then guide them toward circle.

10:40-10:55 Circle Time: (music and movement) Once the children have moved to circle, please join us and help with songs and dancing time. At the end of circle time, assist with washing kid’s hands prior to snack.

10:55 Snack: Please keep all snack items on trays aside until AFTER Time we have sung our snack song. You may then help put a tray with snacks, and serving utensils in the middle of each table, along with a pitcher of water on each table. The children will be having snack “family style”. Please help them with language like, “please pass the crackers…” as well as names of foods etc. There will be an adult sitting at each table in order to eat with the children. Please make sure they’re using the tongs and spoons for serving. Help if needed and enjoy conversation! When each child is done they may throw away their trash, put away their nametag and go read books until it’s time to go outside.

11:15 Outside Time: Please help children put on helmets and jackets before going outside. Have fun watching and playing with the kids. You are also supervising this activity. Everyone on wheeled toys must have on helmets and stop at BOTH stop signs.

11:50 Story Time: Children all come in for a last story and to talk about their day at preschool. Once the children are settled, you may start to clean the art room.

12:00 Children Dismissed: We sing our good-bye song. Parents arrive and kids leave. Please help make sure that children have an appropriate adult with them. Kids should not leave the room until that connection is made. The “Book Nook” is a nice place for them to wait for a parent. Please ask the teacher for help if needed.

Final Clean Up: Put away all materials used that day. Clean, restock papers, fill and cover paints. Clean both bathrooms according to the procedures posted in the bathroom. Lastly, please help put away all completed, dry artwork into “art-files”.

Friday: Please put art supplies used back into art room. Clean bathroom between rooms 12/13 according to posted procedure card. Put away finished art into art files. Help put away activities used in room 12 and return to rooms 13/14.

3 year-old Class Outside Parent

8:30 Set up outside toys and activities: Set up toys stored in both the sheds outside. Notice how toys are stored before you get them out…you will have to get them back in at the end of the day! Get out bikes, tricycles, balls, stick horses, sand toys and set up stop signs. Push basketball hoop to an open area. Turn on the gate alarm and make sure that is working. Also check to make sure “collar” is secured around outside gate handles by art room.

Friday: Please help bring toys and activities needed over to room 12.

As children leave for group, please join us and help supervise. Please supervise the children who choose to be in the “circle room.” (Dress-up, trains, blocks, etc.)

9:40 Free Choice/Activity Time

10:30 Clean up: Teacher will ring the bell and sing the clean-up song. Say, “It’s time to clean-up.” Please help the children in the block/dramatic play area to put toys where they belong. Encourage the children to help.

10:40-10:55  Circle Time: (music and movement) Once the children have moved to circle, please join us and help with songs and dancing time. At the end of circle time, assist teacher with dismissing children to wash hands, and then assist snack parent with any hand washing left to be done prior to snack.

10:55 Snack Time: Please keep all snack items on trays aside until AFTER we have sung our snack song. You may then help put a tray with snacks, and serving utensils in the middle of each table, along with a pitcher of water on each table. The children will be having snack “family style”. Please help them with language like, “please pass the crackers…” as well as names of foods etc. and model please and thank you. There will be an adult sitting at each table in order to eat with the children. Please make sure they’re using the tongs and spoons for serving. Help if needed and enjoy conversation! When each child is done they may throw away their trash, put away their nametag and go read books until it’s time to go outside.

11:15 Outside Time: YOU are the first adult outside after snack! Stay outside the whole time to help supervise. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask the teacher for help.

11:50 Story Time: Children come in for stories to end their day. Please brush off excess sawdust and sand from clothing. Then, put all toys and bikes away in sheds, sweep sidewalks of excess sawdust or sand and make sure the sheds are closed securely.

12:00 Children Dismissed: Children and teacher sing good-bye song. Parent or responsible adult arrive, sign out and pick up children. Please help make sure each child is with an appropriate adult when leaving!

Final Clean Up: After children have left, finish wrapping up outside. If you have completed your tasks, assist inside. Help return any items borrowed from rooms 13/14. Please work as a team. Your job is done when working parents (and teacher) can leave together!

Friday: Please help return any items borrowed back to rooms 13/14
